Post-birthday celebrations (Part 1)

Then I headed to work for the end of the OfSTED week. It was a quiet day really apart from the end which involved a staff gathering to announce the results. As I was involved I was in a scary meeting earlier in the day so I already knew that we passed. It was only scary really because all of the staff present were really high up. Anyway, we passed! Which is the main thing. The staff gathering at the end of the day was really good actually, just because the turnout was so high and it really felt like we’d all achieved something. One of the Directors did a little speech and said that although he didn’t want to single any one person out he did have to say a ‘special thanks to Sarah Applewhite and Andrew Oakes for all of their behind-the-scenes hard work’. How cool is that?! And really embarrassing :s I just pretended not to see all the heads turn to me (well apart from the ones who were clearly thinking, ‘who’s that?’ but we’ll ignore them’) and sipped my champagne.
I had quite a bit to drink actually so it was a good end to the day! I forgot to mention that me and Sarah went for a dinner time drink so I’d started early! It was cool though. We talked about zoos and board games so you can’t go wrong. I also let slip my library bound plans :s She was fine with it though, very supportive. I think she really wanting me for OfSTED stuff anyway and she’s leaving in a few weeks.
I haven’t mentioned the actual results. Well, because we failed two years ago and this was a re-inspection we were thrilled to have passed with flying colours! Two years ago, the Music Production department got a 4 (failing) and Music got a 3 (satisfactory), now this time Music got a 2 (good) and Music Production was a 3 (satisfactory) although the general sub-sections grades were mostly 2s so hurrah for that. It made all the hard work worthwhile and also made the embarrassing thank you nice as at least we were appreciated!
It’s a shame I couldn’t stay after work as a few people were going for drinks I think but I had to get back for James’ birthday celebrations! I offered to take him for a meal but as he was so tired he suggested a takeaway and a film which was fine by me. So we had Indian and watched ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ again. It’s no less funny the second time round! So good. It might actually be one of my favourite films because it has the same effect on me as ‘Amelie’ does. Wonderful.
