Friday lunchtime involved a trip out with fellow workmates James, Amy and Bex. We were going to go to the Cactus Lounge. Amy had suggested we do on account of it closing at the end of the week. However, when we arrived we found that it was already shut. Damn. However, we made up for it with a lovely pub lunch at The Palace (?). It was lovely, especially as the weather was oddly nice. Actually, in general, the past three (carrying on into today too by the looks of things) days have been proper summer weather and it's been nice. I didn't realise how used to the crap wetness I was. Summer might actually have arrived! Anyway, the lunch was really good and made me feel like I might have actually have made some friends here. It'll be a shame to go in a way, although I'll still be in Leeds and with good old Facebook on the case I won't be far away. I arrived back into the office to find that my boss has been given a leaving date of two weeks time. Odd but at least things are sorted now I guess. We're having an easy week as she's away all week. Deal or No Deal anyone?
James arrived back on Friday night and it was lovely to see him again. I'd missed him, even with Mr Moo as company. On Saturday morning I had a hair cut and we had a quick look around town before I headed off to Preston in the afternoon for Feef's birthday party :D I'd never been to Preston before but it doesn't seem as grim as I thought it might be! And Feef's house is really nice as is the new man. I arrived at the station to be greeted by a mermaid (Feef), a fighter pilot (Simon), a gangster (Biggie) and the WORST NINJA EVER (Rich). I had no costume so I was later made to dress up as Fiona. I will say no more on the matter except that I look fucking hot in a dress. There are photos. I fear for my life. I'm not worried though, because for everyone else dignity wasn't a priority either.
So after a few drinks and catching up (believe me, I had a lot to catch up with, and I don't mean news wise either - bunch o' drunks) we were met with the arrival of Lindsey (a diva/drag queen. Backcombed hair - Utterly amazing!) and Laura (Groucho Marx/vicar). I'd not met Laura before but she's lovely and we told Lindsey so. I get the impression that Lindsey considers herself to be quite lucky considering that by her account, 'most lesbians are awful' so yay for her! The evening ploughed on and much fun was had. A highlight was Biggie getting his cock out (and what party would be complete without it?) and Lindsey being utterly horrified by it. I have never seen somebody so disgusted by anything in my life and I'm glad I got photos of her face (but not the cock thankfully). Photos will follow. People gradually passed out leaving me and Biggie. We went to bed and talked about a range of things including bumsex, gays, Prince and music, pretty much a fitting description of my life in fact. I must also mention me being described as 'buffed up' by several party guests which i found odd because if anything I'm less healthy than I was a year ago. I think they were just muddling up 'buffed up' with simply 'buff'. Oh, and I was most amused that Lindsey's hair had still not gone down in the morning. Wonderful.
I got an fairly early train back which i was glad of in the end because I just wanted to collapse, recover and ingest something with vitamins in. I haven't been that drunk in ages and I know why. I'm still recovering today! Sad but true. I got back to find an also recovering James, as he'd been out last night too. Turns out he'd been talking to Theatre Tom for ages and carried on the conversation at our house. He hadn't clicked that we were together which is funny. I can't believe we've finally got a friend and he's moving away! Silly but not surprising!
The rest of the day was spent feeling a bit queasy and playing Lego Star Wars. So it wasn't all bad then. I'm looking forward to a quiet week I think. I've just seen another library job to apply for. I've gone for it because it ends today. It's at Leeds Uni. There are three posts going too so I'd stand a fairly ok chance of getting one. However, it's five days a week, four hours a day so I bet it'll clash with my studying. I'm still waiting for a reply about the hours of study required but I can always turn it down. Now that I've seen that there a lot of stuff coming up though I'm fairly enthusiatic about getting a library job rather than stay where I am. We'll see though.
Oh, and we watched 'Heroes' at the weekend. It's good isn't it? Naturally my favourite is the Japanese man. I love the fact that it's like a comic movie but it's on TV and it seems deadly serious. It's quite nice to see that on top of the much-loved cartoonishness of the X-Men and other superhero films.
