Friday lunchtime involved a trip out with fellow workmates James, Amy and Bex. We were going to go to the Cactus Lounge. Amy had suggested we do on account of it closing at the end of the week. However, when we arrived we found that it was already shut. Damn. However, we made up for it with a lovely pub lunch at The Palace (?). It was lovely, especially as the weather was oddly nice. Actually, in general, the past three (carrying on into today too by the looks of things) days have been proper summer weather and it's been nice. I didn't realise how used to the crap wetness I was. Summer might actually have arrived! Anyway, the lunch was really good and made me feel like I might have actually have made some friends here. It'll be a shame to go in a way, although I'll still be in Leeds and with good old Facebook on the case I won't be far away. I arrived back into the office to find that my boss has been given a leaving date of two weeks time. Odd but at least things are sorted now I guess. We're having an easy week as she's away all week. Deal or No Deal anyone?

James arrived back on Friday night and it was lovely to see him again. I'd missed him, even with Mr Moo as company. On Saturday morning I had a hair cut and we had a quick look around town before I headed off to Preston in the afternoon for Feef's birthday party :D I'd never been to Preston before but it doesn't seem as grim as I thought it might be! And Feef's house is really nice as is the new man. I arrived at the station to be greeted by a mermaid (Feef), a fighter pilot (Simon), a gangster (Biggie) and the WORST NINJA EVER (Rich). I had no costume so I was later made to dress up as Fiona. I will say no more on the matter except that I look fucking hot in a dress. There are photos. I fear for my life. I'm not worried though, because for everyone else dignity wasn't a priority either.

So after a few drinks and catching up (believe me, I had a lot to catch up with, and I don't mean news wise either - bunch o' drunks) we were met with the arrival of Lindsey (a diva/drag queen. Backcombed hair - Utterly amazing!) and Laura (Groucho Marx/vicar). I'd not met Laura before but she's lovely and we told Lindsey so. I get the impression that Lindsey considers herself to be quite lucky considering that by her account, 'most lesbians are awful' so yay for her! The evening ploughed on and much fun was had. A highlight was Biggie getting his cock out (and what party would be complete without it?) and Lindsey being utterly horrified by it. I have never seen somebody so disgusted by anything in my life and I'm glad I got photos of her face (but not the cock thankfully). Photos will follow. People gradually passed out leaving me and Biggie. We went to bed and talked about a range of things including bumsex, gays, Prince and music, pretty much a fitting description of my life in fact. I must also mention me being described as 'buffed up' by several party guests which i found odd because if anything I'm less healthy than I was a year ago. I think they were just muddling up 'buffed up' with simply 'buff'. Oh, and I was most amused that Lindsey's hair had still not gone down in the morning. Wonderful.

I got an fairly early train back which i was glad of in the end because I just wanted to collapse, recover and ingest something with vitamins in. I haven't been that drunk in ages and I know why. I'm still recovering today! Sad but true. I got back to find an also recovering James, as he'd been out last night too. Turns out he'd been talking to Theatre Tom for ages and carried on the conversation at our house. He hadn't clicked that we were together which is funny. I can't believe we've finally got a friend and he's moving away! Silly but not surprising!

The rest of the day was spent feeling a bit queasy and playing Lego Star Wars. So it wasn't all bad then. I'm looking forward to a quiet week I think. I've just seen another library job to apply for. I've gone for it because it ends today. It's at Leeds Uni. There are three posts going too so I'd stand a fairly ok chance of getting one. However, it's five days a week, four hours a day so I bet it'll clash with my studying. I'm still waiting for a reply about the hours of study required but I can always turn it down. Now that I've seen that there a lot of stuff coming up though I'm fairly enthusiatic about getting a library job rather than stay where I am. We'll see though.

Oh, and we watched 'Heroes' at the weekend. It's good isn't it? Naturally my favourite is the Japanese man. I love the fact that it's like a comic movie but it's on TV and it seems deadly serious. It's quite nice to see that on top of the much-loved cartoonishness of the X-Men and other superhero films.

I am currently  doing my last stint on the library issue desk. This is because it's my last day at work! I finish at 12.15 today and I'm actually quite sad about it. Because of some members of staff coming in at half one we had a little farewell gathering yesterday instead. Margaret (who's my proper big boss, overseeing both the Crewe and Alsager library sites as opposed to Mazza who just manages Alsager) gave a little speech in the workroom and gave me a huuuge present off all the staff. She seemed genuinely sad to se me go as did many of the other staff. I know this because of the huge amount of presents I've been given! The big present off everybody was a wok! Which is very much appreciated, especially because me and James were saying how we needed one. It was Sarah's idea and she was going to get it on her day off but she was ill so apparently she sat with her feet up reading through the Argos catalogue and had to send her Mum out to get it! I also got individual gifts. Sarah got me a book called 'How to run your home without help' which is a reprint of a 1950's manual. She's told me about it before and it's so her. She also put her recipe for lemon curd on the inside. Yum yum. Jackie got me a cuddly monkey which has really long arms and legs and two pots of Pringles because she'd bought too many! Liz was feeling snap happy and took a picture of of the monkey round my neck. Speaking of Liz, she made me a dartboard with pictures of Peter and Jordan on! This amused me no end, especially because my favourite picture of them is in the middle, and on the flip side there are pictures of journals! Hehe, and I got proper darts too. I also got a homemade card from her and Jan B thanking me for all the work I'd done with the journals over the past year. Jan B also gave me her own card and some baking sheets. There's a theme going on here. Stella, rather impressingly, got me an apron with 'Stellar' written on it! Just so I won't forget her. And everybody had decorated my desk too. I'll put a picture up soon. I can't believe how many presents I got thinking about it. I didn't expect any at all but everybody seems genuinely sad to see me go. As am I really. I was stripping my desk of the tat I've stuck up (Kinder Egg toys on my computer, pictures on my pin board) for the past year this morning so it's all looking rather empty. But here's to my new job! Although there's still no news on the house :s Oh well, there's party snacks in the tea room to make up for it!

There isn't really any other news to report. I've ben catching up on my telly though. Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives are keeping me amused :D I didn't say anything about Torchwood did I? Well the finale was very good although I really which they'd got rid of Owen and overall the show was a bit patchy, hitting some really low lows. But all the man on man kissing in the last episodes made up for it!

Have I not been doing anything else? Hmmm, clearly not.

In my entry yesterday I forgot to mention the rather strange turn of events regarding my wallet while I was in Skipton. After parking in town, viewing the two houses and then going for a drink I got a call from my Dad telling me that he'd had a phone call from Skipton police station! Apparently I'd dropped my wallet in the bus station where we'd parked and a old gentleman had handed it in to the police station. I hadn't even realised it was gone! Which is probably just as well as I would have freaked out had I had known. I was very very lucky though. I must send him a reward tonight actually.

So yes, missing wallet aside I've just been working. I'm not terribly impressed with the housing company though. They phoned the library today in order to confirm start and end dates for my job and they gave Mary until 5pm today to do it. All very well as she's here but if she hadn't been, well...my new employer had been 'bombarded' by phone and email asking for similar information and yesterday *I* got a call on my mobile which as I missed as I was working. I returned it asking what they wanted only to be told by the guy on the other end that he didn't know because everything on my record looked fine. So I'm not really impressed by there handling. Hopefully I won't have to deal with them once I get the keys...

Me and Mazza have been figuring out a proper end date for my finish. After a bit of a headache we figured out that I officially finish next Wednesday at 12.15pm which I'd figured anyway. I have a few hours leiu too which means that I get to come in a little tomorrow which is nice. So yay for that. On a finishing theme. Sarah (baker and general household wonder) asked me if I'd like some of her homemade lemon curd yesterday. I, of course, said yes. She said that she was going to give me some as a leaving present but she's got so much of it that she brought it in today! So I have that to look forward to. Yum yum.
