Today has been a great success in the Oakes-Mason household. We finally got round to putting up the rest of our furniture, 4 pieces. The one we were working on was a bit of a pain so James got a bit grumpy. Thankfully our investment in an electric screwdriver/drill was very wise and we got it done in a fairly quick time. Note to self – Focus furniture = a bitch Argos furniture = wonderful. I was surprised by how well I coped really, I was rubbish at woodwork at school. But hey, I’ve always been good at screwing… We’ve still not unpacked everything yet for the very reason that we had nothing to put things on although most of it is done. We loaded up some of the shelves with some of James’ DVDs and we’ll probably finish the rest off this week. We also nipped back to James’ house which feels very weird to go into now, especially his room which is getting emptier. Today we packed some of his books.

I start my new job tomorrow! I’m not sure what to think really. It’s a little bit scary but I guess I’ll just get on with it. I’m not looking forward to the early starts I have to say. Thankfully they’ve let me come in at 9am as opposed to 8.30am so I can kind of ease myself in.

After the horror of getting locked into our own home on Friday a handyman came round to change our locks so we can actually get out of our house. And on Saturday we went to Leeds, firstly to do a dummy run of my work journey, timing walks etc and then we did some shopping. Always a problem when you go to Leeds, I must stay away from the shops when I start work! Weirdly I realised yesterday that Leeds College of Music links up to BBC Yorkshire next door so all those local TV heroes I remember from my Uni days may very well pop up! Paul the weatherman, Harry Grayshon (sp?), Christa Ackroyd, I’m going to pap them good!

Other than that I’ve mostly been watching Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, The Muppet Show (my current favourite) and Dara O’Briain.
