The weekend went by in a relaxing way really and I didn’t get up to that much. Any trips out were put on hold on account of the crappy weather and we hardly left the house all weekend. The sleet was so bad on Friday night that James picked me up from the station. The exception to not leaving the house was Saturday night as me and James went to Sam Houstan’s  for tea. James had been a bit low over the weekend too so I paid for tea. I had ‘Mess ‘o Ribs’ and I have to say that it was a accurate nickname. Tasty as they were, the hassle makes me want to stick to their really tasty burgers from now on. However, the knickerbocker glory I had was really tasty so no complaints there. It’s funny, we’ve been there three times in total and we get sat in the same place every time. It’s so good having all of this tasty food round the corner from your house.

Saturday night also featured Harry Hill’s TV Burp. Brilliant as always except that this week it had the ‘Reggae reggae sauce’ man from Dragon’s Den on it, and Harry Hill dressed as a giant burger. Honestly, things don’t get much better than that. After we got back from eating we started to watch the first season of ‘Life on Mars’ because I hadn’t seen it and the new series is on this week. I liked it though. We also watched Primeval which was really good, although anything with a dinosaur in it is going to win me over. Speaking of which, I got my new dinosaur encyclopaedia which I’ll have to flick through. It’s really difficult finding a decent dinosaur book that’s not aimed at kids and I can’t seem to find any decent websites on them weirdly. I just need to update my childhood knowledge though really, it’s long out of date.

Do you ever feel like you took completely the wrong degree? I mean, everything I really want to do such as palaeontology, zoology, hell even acting (which I suspect I’m crap at but my new found love of plays make me really want to try it), I can’t do! The first two are also down to circumstance, anything in those fields only takes place in certain places. Which are few and far between where I happen to live. I keep thinking about what Chantal was saying a few weeks back. If I want to further myself in this job then I’m looking at management, and hell, I really don’t like my job enough to do that, so what do I do?!

Anyway, enough rambling. The brief mention of work reminds me, I’m in the new staff newsletter! And impressively, the bit about me and where I’ve come from is the biggest paragraph in it, apart from the Principle’s! this does mean that everyone knows my entire history though :s

I must mention that I’ve been flying through graphic novels of late and I’ve nearly finished all of the ones I’ve got and I’ve bought so much stuff of late that I can’t buy any more! I’ve just finished ‘Jar of Fools’ which is really, really good, although it’d really benefit from me not reading through it so quickly (the problem with graphic novels in general) because the story so coincidental and deep. I’ll definitely read it again though. I’m on Adrian Tomine now.

On Sunday I did some cooking. I couldn’t be bothered to get new ingredients so I made something out of what I already had in. Impressively, the new cookbook I bought delivered, giving me instructions on how to make mango tea bread. It turned out great and is really tasty, even if I do say so myself.

Last night I finished off my latest origami project too. I’d bought an underwater scene from the toy shop in Skipton the first weekend of being here and so I’ve been doing that. Impressively, all the fish and creatures are really easy to do and I’ve made one of each, now I just need to make some baby ones and it’s complete. It’s now sitting on the windowsill. I got a dinosaur origami book the other day too but they look really advanced! I will try one soon though.

And so I am back at work. Joy! Or not as the case maybe. On the 28th I headed to James' and received gifts! I like seeing James after Xmas as it means that we get to prolong the gift giving. As it turns out I got some excellent presents from him including:

A box of Roses (because, as he rightly pointed out, I never get chocolate at Xmas)
A box on Japanese anime
A tube of dinosaurs!
Countryside in a bag (from Muji and acurately symbolises my move to the country)
A really beautiful Japanese display of little cats in the snow. It's really difficult to describe but I shall post a picture of it soon. I'm thrilled with it. The only problem is that there are four in the series. I have 'Winter' so I'll have to invest in the others and swap them over at the change of seasons! But yeah, I'm thrilled to bits with it.

I also bought myself an origami seascape which should look excellent in our new house (I hope James knows what he's going to let himself in for. I'm just going to fill the place with tat). Speaking of which, on the 29th we went and found ourself a house. We had two to look at and ended up being given the tours by the same lady that showed us round the flat we looked at in October. She's very nice and told us that for new year she would be dressing up as Dnagermouse and going out in Bingley. Hehe. Anyway, the two houses we looked at were both really nice and we decided to go with our gut-reaction and opt for the first one as it had built in wardrobes, a washer and a fridge whereas the other didn't, plus no-one had put in an offer yet. We got our applications in quickly and so we're just waiting for it all to go through. So hopefully our new address will be 2 Bay Horse Yard, yes, I'm aware that it seems like I'm living in a barn. But it's so lovely, it has beams and everything! It's right next to the canal and the town is at the end of the very short road, it's ten minutes max from the railway station. It couldn't be more perfect although I shouldn't really get too excited about it all until it's finalised. I had a call from the agency asking me to ring back. When I did ring back the man on the other end said that he had no idea why I'd been asked to ring and that everything looked fine. Hmmm, I'm a bit worried about it now.

Getting it all sorted so quickly meant that we were free to relax for the rest of the few days. We hardly left the house, instead playing games and watching a lot of television. The TV was mostly crap granted but we managed to do quite well on stuff we had taped from before Xmas. Before I went to James' I ended up getting sucked into films like Back to the Future and Jurassic Park. Mmmm, filmy. However, we did watch 'High School Music' which was amusing if not worryingly unironic. It should come with a warning advising diabetics to watch only in small amounts. However, the dancing geek and 'Creme Bruleeee' guy amused me no end.

New Year's Eve was spent in typical non-hardcore fashion. Playing board games and watching Graham Norton's 2006 quiz which I found very funny, possibly because of the huge amount of wine I consumed. I also ate far far too much. We had an Indian takeaway on New Year's Eve and then we found the chocolates...: Still, it was a lovely way to bring in the new year. We watched the London fireworks on the telly. Weren't they good? I was impressed. I did think at one point that they'd set fire to the London Eye there were that many flames and fireworks going off but it's nice to know we can do something so spectacular, after the Millenium display's paltry effort.

And then I came home yesterday. The trains were really quiet which was really good. I expected them to be packed for some reason. I liked having my DS to play on on the way home :) I got home just in time to watch the Vicar of Dibley's funny yet ridiculous final episode and then went to bed. And now I'm at work with only just over a week to go until I finish. Hurrah!
